Nelson Produce Farm is out at Valley, about thirty minutes northwest of Omaha. There’s a produce stand and a farm market on the place, a u-pick garden you walk yourself, and beef sold straight off the farm rather than through a store.
The season runs June through late October. Sweet corn and vegetables come through the market, pumpkins come on in the fall, and there’s a farm kitchen putting out food while you’re there.
They build festivals around the calendar — a Tulip Festival in spring, then Homegrown Fest, Sunflower Fest and Fall Fest as the year turns. The farm posts its own calendar, and that’s the one to check before you load up.
This ring gets better every time somebody tells us about a place. Send it over — the farm’s name, its town, and where a person can buy what it grows. No fee, no ads sold against anybody, and every link points at the farm’s own page.
