New Orleans and Baton Rouge sit eighty miles apart with the same farm country in between them, so we drew one ring around both. Most of what’s below is north of the lake — Tangipahoa and St. Tammany parishes, where the strawberries and the dairies are — and two of these farms are inside New Orleans itself.
Every farm on this page is in Louisiana; nothing here crosses a state line. The longest haul is Jarrell Bros. up at Kentwood, about an hour and a quarter from either city, and it earns the drive by running milk down to town on a schedule instead of making you come get it.

Three farms in this ring run pick-your-own, and all three are north of the lake. Liuzza Land at Amite picks strawberries, flowers and vegetables in the spring off a fifth-generation produce family. Mrs. Heather’s Farm runs its strawberry u-pick on a separate field at Albany, 31458 Hwy 43, mid-March to Mother’s Day. Ridemore Farm at Covington picks blueberries and blackberries roughly mid-May into July — though the 2026 season has ended and the farm says it will be back in 2027.
Two dairies in this ring advertise it, both up in Tangipahoa Parish. Jarrell Bros. Dairy at Kentwood calls itself the “First ‘Grade A’ dairy in Louisiana to legally sell raw milk!” and sells raw cow’s milk and A2/A2 raw milk by the half gallon and gallon — pre-ordered, then picked up at the dairy or on runs to Baton Rouge on Saturday mornings and Marrero on Wednesday afternoons. Sinagra Family Dairy at Amite bottles its own raw and low-temperature pasteurized milk and sells it from a farm store open Mondays and Thursdays, two to six.
Two of them. River Queen Greens farms out on River Road and runs a member-choice share — you pick your own vegetables at each pickup rather than take a set box. Its spring season runs January into June, Tuesday evenings four to seven at Press Street Gardens, 800 Homer Plessy Way, and EBT customers get half off through Market Match. Grow Dat Youth Farm works a City Park site and runs a twenty-nine-week share, November through June for 2026–27, at eight hundred seventy dollars payable in installments, picked up at the farm Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings. SNAP recipients get half off there as well.
