This is the dairy lane of the Almanac — every farm we’ve listed so far that sells milk. Some of it is raw, through a herd share or straight off the place. Some of it is bottled on the farm and pasteurized there. We say which is which, farm by farm, rather than letting one word cover both.
Cows mostly, but not only: there are goat dairies here, a sheep creamery in Missouri, and more than one place milking a small A2/A2 Jersey herd. The rules on selling milk are set state by state and the farms word their offers accordingly — herd share, farm pickup, pre-order, licensed sale. We list what the farm publishes, in the farm’s own terms.

A good many of these ask you to reserve ahead — a text, an email, a waiting list. Where a farm keeps a store or a set pickup day, it’s on the farm’s page. Where it doesn’t publish one, we say so instead of guessing.
